Cinnamon Oranges: a 5-minute dessert that asks nothing of you
Desserts & treats · serves 2 · under-30 min
Core AIP · Elimination phase compliant

Some nights the most generous thing you can do for yourself is to not cook. This one needs 3 clean ingredients and no stove, and it still feels like a real dessert.
The citrus does quiet work. It is a source of vitamin C, which is involved in immune function and in the formation of collagen, the protein that holds skin and connective tissue together. The fruit also carries polyphenols, plant compounds linked to supporting the body's antioxidant balance. Only 1 teaspoon of honey across both servings is there for a touch of shine, not to carry the sweetness.
Peel the segments and you have something that looks like a small offering. A dusting of cinnamon, and you are done. Eat it slowly. Notice the brightness. Gratitude for fruit this simple is its own kind of medicine.
Ingredients
- 3 clementines, peeled and segmented (or substitute 2 small navel oranges or tangerines, or 1 large)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon honey (maple syrup works in its place, per the source author)
Method
Peel the clementines and separate them into segments. Lay them in a bowl.
Sprinkle the cinnamon over the top and drizzle on the honey. Toss gently so each segment is coated.
Serve chilled or at room temperature.
